Bio

"Our job as actors, from forever, has been to render our audiences more human by virtue of our humanity."

-Anthony Abeson

Eleni Yiovas is a born and raised native New Yorker of Greek heritage. She earned a double B.A. in History and Media Studies with honors. Prior to her graduating, she worked behind the camera as a production assistant and later as a coordinator for Emmy Award-winning filmmakers Marc Levin and Daphne Pinkerson for a feature film and documentary series for HBO, The Discovery Channel and PBS. Although she found the experience invaluable, and documentary work essential for the world, she never lost sight of her true and natural calling: Acting.

You can see Eleni opposite Hong Chau in The Instigators on Apple TV starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck, directed by Doug Liman. She had a wonderful experience playing opposite Jim Parsons in Spoiler Alert directed by Michael Showalter and has co-starred on Law & Order: Organized Crime on NBC and other notable series. She is a series regular in the multi-award-winning SWITCH, a scripted series based on true events which starred Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis, two-time Emmy winner Cady McClain, Emmy nominated Jon Lindstrom, Catherine Eaton among a force of an ensemble cast.

To keep herself grounded in the fast pace of the entertainment industry and living in the city, Eleni keeps both her body and mind active by attending classes in between bookings with some of the best master teachers in the world, to keep honing her skills. She loves road trips, hiking in nature far from any sign of habitation, swimming, strength training and makes it a point to enjoy all of what the greatest city on earth has to offer from Broadway to black box theater improv, spoken word to finding the most authentically ethnic off-the-radar greasy spoon eateries in the far corners of the boroughs.  Sometimes sitting in front of a painting for a good while can do wonders to recharge.

To feed her spirit, she travels as far as she can to educate and immerse herself with people of different cultures and all walks of life. She visits her parents homeland Greece, her second home, to connect with her family and her roots.

She strongly feels she is best of service through the unique art form of acting by engaging an audience to open themselves up a little more and hopefully connect to each other a little deeper and relate to each other a little better.

She actively supports and advocates for local and global organizations and charities that help make the world a more equitable and better place. A little fun fact: her favorite hero of all time is Harriet Tubman (since the 4th grade :)
